About Jiu Jitsu GP

Jiu Jitsu GP is dedicated to promoting the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by an Academy  vs Academy Tournament using the Quintet rule set.  Mens Team Academy's of 5 Men vs 5 Men plus a, Women's Teams Academy of 3 Women vs 3 Women (round robin) will fight it out for the Jiu Jitsu GP Cup and cash prizes.

 

Currently most BJJ competitions are individually focused, with Jiu Jitsu GP it's a Team focused  tournament to find out who is the best BJJ Team in New Zealand.

What is Jiu Jitsu GP

Team Competition

Academy vs Academy. Mens Teams and Women's Teams from different Academy's will fight it out in a Men and Women's No Gi Submission only competition using the Quintet rules set.    

Grand Prix of Jiu Jitsu 

The biggest cash prize in BJJ NZ history  for the winning Team, plus BJJ apparel and holders of the Jiu Jitsu GP Trophy.  There will be two competitions per year a summer and winter Tournament. 

BJJ Community Engagement

Jiu Jitsu GP is committed to supporting financially New Zealand BJJ competitors who compete internationally. Therefore profits from competitions will be pooled to support the NEW ZEALAND GI BLACKS and for under 16's the NEW ZEALAND GIWIS.

Is Jiu Jitsu GP open to all belts levels?

Jiu Jitsu GP offers a Team competition environment for Academies to compete and put forward their best grapplers. Jiu Jitsu GP is  open to all belt levels.  

Is Jiu Jitsu GP free to enter?

Each Academy can enter one Men's Team and one Women's Team. The fee for each Mens Team is NZD$500 and Women's Team is NZD$300. Depending on the number of Teams competing the winning prize pool may be up to NZD$4,250 in prizes including NZ$3,000 cash for Men's and up to NZD$2,250 in prizes including NZD$1,500 cash for Women's. Each winning  athlete will receive a  brand new 'Cauli Cartel' BJJ Gi Kimono valued at NZD$249.  You can combine with another Academy to make a Team, if required.    

What sets Jiu Jitsu GP apart?

Our goal is to provide exciting, fast paced,  spectator friendly No Gi Jiu Jitsu.  As a spectator  it will give you the opportunity to cheer on and support your Team and team mates.
